GROOVY NOODLES
THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 82
NOVEMBER 11, 2022
TREASON NOODLES
– – Some preliminary album cover artwork designs are now being considered for the band’s next studio album “WITHOUT A TRIBE.” It’s really down to four ideas now. We’ll keep you posted.
– After some minor setbacks (including family illness – fortunately resolved now) which forced the pushing back of the release date, the unleashing of our next album “WITHOUT A TRIBE” is back on track.
After the holidays, we will begin the roll out (including interviews, promo clips, exclusive features and info and, of course, pre-sales). We’re looking at mid-January to begin that process…. and probably February, 2023 for the actual drop of the music (which will be available on CD, Vinyl, HQ Digital Formats (FLAC, WAV, 320kpbs MP3)…
We are not yet at the point where we can do this full-time, although we’re trying… so our “regular day jobs” are still an impediment to what we want to do. We do not push hastily created music on you. We take pride in the excellence of our work and only want to present all of you with the best possible high-quality material. Both time and finances are VERY TIGHT, but we’re trudging through. We sincerely appreciate your amazing patience and support.
It will all have been worth it. We promise.

Elm Treason Reality Check
From the “A Different Time” File…
People always seem to dig these retrospectives we do – especially when it comes to advertising. Nothing reflects a period of time quite like its advertisements.
So, in the first of a two-part series, we share some of the most odd, politically-incorrect, archaic and vintage print ads we could find.
Some might offend. Some might shock. Some might delight. Some may simply make you laugh. Pay close attention to the graphics, the clothing, the prices and the fine print. If you’ve got a few extra minutes, check ’em out.
Groovy Noodles Extra: From the Pen of Andy Roman
Andy takes quill in hand this week to finish his thoughts on the “hatchet” connection of the first two Elm Treason album covers.
Could it be the boys in the band have an ax fetish?
Plus…Andy remembers that one time a radio station programmer hated the band… without ever listening to a single note of music.

The Jam was the 1st band to blow my mind back in 1979 for a 3peice to make the noise thay did got me hooked on them, Ocean Color scene was another then came Elm Treason which I still tune into every other day.
Tom Waits
The Who – My Generation, Pink Floyd – The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
I had just turned 14 when I first heard Queen’s Killer Queen on the radio for the first time.. It was magnificent to me and I had never heard anything like it. I’m not sure anyone had done the kind of studio work that it took to put that one together. It was only 1974. So much going on and as far as I was concerned, there was nothing ever quite like it at that point.
I enjoyed the Groovy Noodles Extra. I’ve met many people like the guy you referred to. Unfortunately, the industry has a lot of people like that.
Just a heads up…I make Groovy Noodles Extra comments here whenever there is not a space provided that is attached to the Groovy Noodles Extra. Some kind of a glitch, either on your end or on my end.
I’m just going with what you said. No need to write it out again.
Jethro Tull, Rush, Glenn Miller…not in that particular order, lol.
Boston blew me away the first time I heard it. 👍
Pink Floyd hands down
Chicago & Rare Earth
While at a function sponsored by the church I newly joined I was asked to play bass while a revolving group of players entertained the crowd. This went on for hours. When the church music minister Marvin King arrived with his son Marcus four hours in I plan to sit out. They instead asked me to stay and what followed was one of the most strenuous musical workouts I ever received. Marcus was 11 years old. I watched him grow and mature as young man and prodigy musician.
When I heard his first commercially released CD I was impressed and blown away. 5 cds later he continues to blow me over. From Joe Bonamassa to Eric Clapton the music elite has sung his praises and rightfully so. He’s humble, gracious to his fans, generous with bandmates/collaborators, and just keeps getting better. He’s made numerous TV appearances the most recent with the Zac Brown band on the CMA’s. Check his sole out on YouTube.
First time I heard Rush they blew my mind. I was a third grader and i put on Fly by night , first song Anthem just melted my brain and even now it still does.
Also first time I saw a live orchestra as a youngster, the Staten Island symphony performed Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. It was breathtaking. I can only describe it as a transcendent experience ; something spiritual. I couldn’t believe that huge sound was coming from all acoustic instruments. Later on, i obtained the score for that piece and analyzed the orchestration. It was a major influence on me, which i think still shows up to this day, especially when doing orchestral arrangements for Elm Treason songs.
I am going with 3 picks and the first songs from each that made me an instant fan.
Led Zeppelin – Black Dog
Alice Cooper Group – School’s Out
Queen – Keep Yourself Alive
three fantastic songs.
Led Zeppelin
Rush
Greatest of memories that never leave you….
Ann Wilson what a voice…Allison Russell singing All of the women too many to choose but I am always blown away by so many talented musicians who play bluegrass, country, the blues, and whatever else that does it for me, but Hound dog Taylor always blows my mind every time I listen.
Stevie Ray Vaughn – heard / saw him after he died – on PBS Austin city limits – gobbled up all I could after that
