THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 54

APRIL 29, 2022

LATEST ELM TREASON NEWS

Item 1 – We will be officially announcing our ALBUM COVER ARTWORK contest next week. We will be accepting submission from anyone and everyone who would like to participate. (FULL DETAILS will be coming next week).  If you win, you get free copies of our next album (featuring your artwork) on CD and Vinyl. We will also be including eight to ten “runner up” entries as an album insert artwork (forever enshrined as part of the album).

Item 2 – Mixing and recording continues on the new album. Much was accomplished during sessions in Texas last week.

Item 3 – We have decided – thanks to your input and suggestions – to go ahead and release the first three Elm Treason albums on VINYL (“Days of Reaction,” “Acoustic Treason” and “Rhyme and Treason.”) It’ll take some time to prepare the masters and artwork, but we hope to have the first of the vinyl releases ready by mid to late Summer.

Item 4 – That’s pretty much it for now.

Your Input: The first thing you think of…

Without thinking. Let’s go visceral here…

You hear the phrase “ROCK N ROLL.”

What is the first thing that INSTANTLY comes to mind when you hear those words?

A band? A feeling? A musician? A memory? An attitude?

Don’t think. Just REACT!

First thought to “rock and roll”? The musician/singer: Chuck Berry, performing “Johnny B. Goode” and “Little Marie” 😎

Katie

It was mine too!

I think of the exuberance of the guys in Spinal Tap screaming, “Rock n Roll!!,” running into dead ends in hallways while trying to find the stage.

Which should remind us all…Rock’s too mysterious, don’t take it serious.

My mind immediately goes to Blues, where the phrase was invented. Then to Alan Freed, After that, I think Rolling Stones because they are among the earliest bands interpreting the Blues, then I think of the big Southern Rockers like Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers, because they were closer to the Blues than even the Stones. At that point, it really opens up to all the other subgenres like Metal, Hard Rock, Psychedelic, Progressive, Folk Rock, Alternative, Indie, Punk, Glam, Roots Rock, etc (not even the tip of the iceberg) and I think “How lucky are we that we get to access this delicious melting pot of music whenever we want to.”

In conclusion (and I mean this sincerely) “Bom Bom Boom.”

Alice Sullivan

The first thing for me unfortunately was switching to full auto on an M-16 in the U.S.Army. An utter waist of limited ammo, but it’s what you do when certain organic material hits the fan. The shock to your ears of the first round is all you hear, followed by the ring that drowned most sound out. And the drumming percussion from your chest up to your temples keeping perfect time to the flames scorching the tip of your barrel … and Yoko Ono

My first thought is getting things done primary at work but in any activity really. Let’s “Rock and roll ” nobody says let’s “hip hop” when they want to get things done. But in music it any driving rhythm synced with an interesting riff and chord progression that transfers energy to the listener.
