GROOVY NOODLES
THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NO. 46
MARCH 4, 2022
The boys in the band.
PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP?
One of the reasons we do this newsletter is to be able to keep in touch with you – especially those who may or may not continue to frequent FACEBOOK (our main platform).
Frankly, if we could, we’d split Facebook. They have been unreasonably hard on so many of our friends and fans (and on us , too) for myriad reasons, throwing people into their social media gulag for all kinds of so-called “infractions.”
Hell, we have to jump through ridiculous hoops just to be able to send our weekly newsletter links to many of you via Facebook Messenger.
They’ve also SEVERLY cut back on the organic reach of the posts we create. We get messages all the time from folks saying they don’t see our posts anymore. Thus, we have to “sponsor” them (Pay for them to be seen with out-of-pocket green).
That costs a ton of money after a while just to stay in touch with people who DO want to hear from us in their newsfeeds.
The fact is, the vast majority of our fan base is on Facebook and abandoning the platform would be death for us at the moment.
We probably will… at some point… eventually… once we grow our email and contact list sufficiently.
However, one thing we’ve been thinking of doing in the meantime is creating a PRIVATE Facebook group.
Facebook has far less restrictions and are far less involved in private Facebook groups. Only people who want to be there will be a part of it… and those who join will get to see all our posts.
As it is now, it is impossible to keep up with all the comments on our regular page. Sure, in theory, it’s a great problem to have, but the vast majority aren’t deeply engaged.
With a Facebook group, we would be able to share more personal, behind-the-scenes stuff, be able to interact more, be able to make sure that those who WANT to see our stuff will, and (hopefully) be far more interactive.
If we do this (and there is a strong possibility we will very soon), we will still keep our regular Facebook page active – a kind of “general” Elm Treason meeting spot… It’s how most people discover us. And when new people see a page with daily posts and an abundance of reactions, it helps build the image of trust and legitimacy…. but the private group we want to create will, we hope, be closer and more engaged.
If you have any thoughts, we’d love to hear them. If not, that’s cool, too.
Just wanted to keep you in on the loop. Rock onward!

Your Input: Least Fave By Most Fave
Here’s a fun one that we save for the newsletter, because on the general Facebook page, people will tend to get combative. LOL.
Here, we just have a bit of fun with it.
Think of your favorite band or artist.
What is your LEAST favorite song by him, her or them?
Be honest! No judgments. No kickback.
Hmmmmm….. (Wonder what Andy’s least favorite Beatles song is? Or what Bobby’s least favorite Rush is…)
Hit that comments section!

The least favorite song by one of my two favorite groups (The Cars) is “Moving in Stereo.” Just never could get into that. I’d also like to say how much I love the newsletter. I haven’t been on site lately, life happens and not always good, but I am slipping back online. Take care and play on.
Lisa, it is so wonderful to hear from you. Truly.
Indeed, life happens – often, in spite of us. We are always here when time permits for you. That’s why we have that “archive” of past newsletters. It’s great to know you’re in our corner.
That Cars song became part of my (Andy’s) cognitive schema as a boy because of its use in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. LOLOL. I know I wasn’t alone in that regard!
So great to hear from you. Rock onward!
The only thing I have to say about the private Facebook page is that I would like to be a part of that please. My least favorite Beatles song is Yellow Submarine. I don’t hate it, but I would never put it on a playlist to listen to.
Hey, Bill. It just wouldn’t seem right to have a Facebook Group without you being a part of it. The honor and pleasure would be all ours.
ON an album that is just so magnificent in so many ways, for me (Andy) – a bona fide Beatlemaniac – YELLOW SUBMARINE is my least favorite.
I’m a die-hard Zep fan. But Stairway to Heaven is over-played and frankly not one of their best.
Hi Laura! Fantastic to hear from you.
Stairway, without question, is one of the most played songs ever.. and for many, OVERPLAYED.
I (Andy) agree that they have many songs that are better.
Y’all know my favorite is Zeppelin. South bound Suarez, one of my least favorite songs. A whistle?!?! Hangman. Too depressing!!!
LOL! Completely understood, Joe. I admit that the arrangement is quite interesting. You can’t fault them for trying… but it’s probably not a big “go to” song considering the excellence of their catalog.
I love this weekly newsletter… It is fun and amusing…and a great idea in brand marketing… The last 3 weeks have had fb issues… A private group is good… I have one… No issues… But I’m also old… And the younger talent… Is so well versed on social media etc…
WE love having you out there in support, Ted!
SO far, the idea of a private Facebook Group seems to be gaining a touch of momentum! 🙂
The final tune on Pink Floyd’s Endless River. Great instrumental album until then, and it’s ruined in my opinion
Kindred spirit! I (Andy) am SO WITH YOU on this. “Louder Than Words.”
Dang it! You are more than 5 stars!!! I always hit wrong thingy! Stevie Nicks Bella Donna drove me nuts back in the day. Also Stand Back. She’s my fave though!!! I love the private group idea. Have great weekend!
Hi Carolyn!
Hey, even our all-time favorites can have duds or tunes that don’t connect with us.
Thank you for the 5 star confidence!
We are definitely heading toward a private group on Facebook. It’ll be a nice place where genuine interaction can – and will – take place.
RUSH – Tai Shan
Hold your Fire
Hey Vinnie!
Understood completely. Bobby’s is “Test for Echo.”
My least favorite song by RUSH (drumroll ……)
Test for Echo!
That song and me just never hit it off. Not sure why.
oh well. it happens.
Cant say i really have a least favourite song, they all seemto have their place, i guess some have less thought put into them than others. A private page sounds good and bring community closer together with interaction on banter, could do a hang out session on Twitch with regular subscribers which brings in a few dollars every month, chat and create music with fans once a month for an hour or two. What ever you guys decide on we are 110 percent behind you.
Love the news letters too.
Aww, thank you, Shirl! MOST sincerely.
Love havin’ you out there. It’s just so much fun doing all of this… and, of course, making music is in our blood. It’s what we do, so knowing we have such magnificent support is the best feeling in the world. 🙂
So many people tell us all the time how they miss so many of our posts. It’s a shame. Plus, so many more people visit our main page now. It’s hard to keep up with our closest and most loyal friends.
This seems like the best way.
The newsletters are fun to do. They will definitely continue.
I can’t stomach is the Beatles hey it’s your birthday.it’s too commercial.
It’s funny… BIRTHDAY was never released as a single during their time together as a band, but it sure got a TON of radio play.
Thanks, Michael! Rock onward!
Hey, I don’t always respond or join the discussion, but I always look forward to your posts and would happily join a private group. Love the newsletters! Love Simon and Garfunkel. Least favorite is Cecilia – overplayed back in the day. Still have trouble listening to it.
Hi Katie!
So good to hear from you. We’re glad you’re out there, whether you literally participate or not. We love that you dig the newsletter.
Overplayed songs, as great as they may be, will start to weigh heavy on the ears of even the most loyal fans. Radio did no favors to a lot of songs that were just overplayed to DEATH.
Cecilia is definitely one that got a TON of play.
Thank you, Katie. We’d LOVE to have you as part of a private Facebook Group.
Tom Sawyer was my least favorite song by Rush. I never understood the draw. Besides the triple drum roll, the song was so simple. Maybe it’s because it was overplayed on the radio.., That triple drumroll though…. The idea of a private group on Facebook is a good one. I would happily join.
Hi Lisa!
Very interesting choice… although I (Andy) must say, I do understand. So many songs are so overplayed that people get sick of them – even great ones.
It would be our HONOR to have you as part of a private Elm Treason Facebook group.
I love love love the idea of a private FB group! Very cool to send pics music links and interacted with others that are very engaged with you and the band. I wouldn’t have to add to your social media clutter with private messages pictures and such lol besides every time I post on your FB page some widower from Syria tries to become my friend????
The song remains the same remains my least favourite zeppelin tune!
Thank you for the positive feedback on the possibility of setting up a private Facebook Group. I think it could be fun and far more interactive, if you get what I mean. There are just too many Bitcoin Peddlers and Syrian Widowers dropping in on the public page.
Of course, I will never abandon the public page, especially on Throwback Thursdays and Happy Weekend posts… but it’s hard to keep up… and many of our friends tell me they are missing a lot of our posts.
I love all of Zeppelin’s albums, but with a gun to my head, if I had to pick a least favorite, it might be In Through The Out Door (album wise)… I think what I have problems with is the sound of Robert’s voice on SONG REMAINS THE SAME (the song). It sounds a tad too artificial, if that makes sense. (It was sped up a little).
Least favorite Beatle’s tune (?) is “Number 9” on the White Album. Everything else they did is musical genius. Maybe this is too but I’m not smart enough to “get it”. If you do eventually do a private Facebook page count me in! I love you guys and everything you do. I’m a fan for life (and hopefully that’s a long time!)
There are times – perhaps once a year – when I headphone “Revolution 9” just to intake the cacophony of sound that it is. It’s hard to think of it as a “song” in the classic sense, but it is arguably my (Andy’s) least “visited” Beatles song.
Thanks for the positive feedback on the Facebook Group. It’d be an honor to have you. 🙂 May life be long for us all.
Would love an elm treason Facebook group
Thank you, brother.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive toward the idea!
My LEAST favorite Beatles song is a toss up between Dizzy Miss Lizzy and You like me too much.
It’s funny… the entire HELP album (British version) is quite excellent. Lots of hints of things to come… but Dizzy Miss Lizzie seems out of place as the closer.
