GROOVY NOODLES

THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NO. 44

FEBRUARY 18, 2022

Hangin’ on the lower East Side…

Your Help is Requested!

Greetings, noodlers! Hope you are well!

If you have about three EXTRA minutes to spare, we’d LOVE LOVE LOVE your input!

This year, as mentioned previously, ELM TREASON is going all out to nab new sets of ears who may be ready for our style and sound. We know they’re out there. We’ll find them… but the KEY is to target correctly.

So, we come to you – friends and fans who already know our music.

We have developed a six question survey we’d love for you to take.

We’re not hoping for any kind of answers specifically. We have no preconceived notions of what to expect. Whatever you think, wwe go with.

The link is below. For those who participate, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

And if not, we love ya anyway.

How Many Bands Can You Find?

According to the creator of this ditty, there are 30 bands hidden in this drawing. (We’ll have the master list next week if you’re interested in testing yourself)..

Your Input: If You Were In Charge…

There are seemingly endless bands and artists NOT in the rock and roll hall of fame who should be.

And conversely, there seem to be a lot of music-makers who are decidely NOT rock and rolllers who ARE (not talking about pre-rock n roll era influencers).

If your word were GOSPEL, and you could pick only ONE artist/band to definitely get in the hall who isn’t, who would that be?

The comments section is yours. Hit it!

(Just a quick sampling of some artists NOT in the RR HOF: Jethro Tull, Ozzy Osbourne (solo), Iron Maiden, Mootorhead, Pixies, Rage Against the Machine, Judas Priest, King Crimson, Pat Benatar, Devo, Bad Company, MC5, Link Wray, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Def Leppard, Radiohead, Bachmann Turner Overdrive, America, Thin Lizzy, Foreigner, Billy Idol, Kansas, Pantera, Motley Crue, Eddie Money, Blue Oyster Cult, Sonic Youth, Steppenwolf, Jim Croce, Supertramp, Grand Funk Railroad, Boston… others…)

Bernie Taupin should be in the HOF for writing. I’m not sure anybody other than Elton has written more top 40 hits (57) 27 top ten hits. Bernie was there with lyrics almost every single time. Not to mention the fact that he’s written almost as many songs for artist who were not Reggie, including two number one songs. Popularity isn’t everything, but he’s a quality writer and it’s ridiculous that he didn’t go into the non performers R and R HOF back when Elton went in in 1994. I thought it was bad, you’ve really opened my eyes. The HOF just a joke to me now.

Bill Boys

Plus Taupin has written 9 number one songs. Not many writers can claim that. Finally, Elton had 7 albums in a row that hit number one. He didn’t do that by himself.

Lisa

MC5 would be my first choice. But many others should have been included by now. The name should be changed from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the Music Museum.

Birthdays This Past Week

Birthdays we didn’t mention on our Facebook page.

Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas, turned 50 on Monday.

Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor had his 61st birthday on Wednesday.

Henry Rollins turned 61 last Sunday.

Best known as the original guitarist for Genesis, the great Steve Hackett celebrated his 72nd birthday last Saturday.

Gary Clark Jr., blues guitarist extraordinaire turned 38 on Tuesday.

Incubus lead singer Brandon Boyd celebrated his 46th birthday on Tuesday.

Personal Note

We don’t often post family birthdays here…

It would be too much, frankly…

But the band wants to wish Andy’s brother, Chris, a very very HAPPY BIRTHDAY today.

Why?

Because he has been so important in the shooting of so many ELM TREASON videos as well as band photo shoots. He and his wife, Anne, have opened up their house to the band on several occassions, and his help has been priceless to us.

Chris has been a godsend.

Happy birthday!

And finally….

…Because this last week was the 58th anniversary of the Beatles’ “invasion” of America, there is this…
