GROOVY NOODLES

THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NO. 37

DECEMBER 31, 2021

Holiday Season Update!

Greetings, all!

We hope your holiday season has rocked thus far.

And even if Christmas is not your holiday, the band still hopes your time has been music-drenched and joy-filled.

Things are quiet ’round the Elm Treason ranch at the moment.

Andy is in Texas visiting family. Bobby is home in Staten Island, NY.

We’ll be revving back up, creating new acts of Treason, the second week in January.

Rock onward, everyone!

Your Input: Goals for the New Year

You wanna call them resolutions?  Okay… We prefer to call them “Goals.”

Do you have any for the upcoming year you’d like to share?

We’ll start… We have two.

We want to have our next studio album ready for release by Fall, 2022.

And we want to expand our fan base – to at least DOUBLE the amount of supporters who regularly interact with us and become “Elmers.”

How about you? No matter how big or small, profound or inane, hit that comments section!

And Happy New Year!

My goals: a better job, and a better Me. And someone special to be with would be wonderful!

Mark Caro

Happy New Year 🎆🎈🎊
21 just flew right by.
The older we get, the faster years go by.
A strange phenomenon indeed.
Keep the creativity going. Keep on jammin’!
Blessings to you and yours!!

Daniel Lee Cummings

Go and see a damn concert in person!

Phil

Big Happy New Year to you and your families and all Elmers out there 👍🥳

Resolutions are to keep interacting regularly with live music and especially the up-and-coming bands and individuals. Live music attendance is, literally, vital 🤘🎸🎶🎤

Another one is to see friends andcrelatives more regularly when the virus ebbs more.

Take good care out there 👍😊🥳

Shelley Briley

Ok, this one is work related. I resolve to write 2022 on my narrative notes for my clients the very first week of the year. I use a template of sorts and forget to change the year. My supervisor and I are taking bets with each other to see if I’ll do it this year. 🙂

Joe Hrozencik

I’m gonna really get my solo project rolling this year. I’ve been out there, making connections, playing endless jam nights, meeting folks. This upcoming year,I’m going all out,and looking forward to having tons of fun,as well!!! I may have mentioned, I was a singer, back in the 90s,and I really got around. I’ve only been playing my own guitar, for only 3 years, this summer. I’m up there, holding my own, with guys(and girls) who have waaaaay more experience (guitar wise) than myself. Music is everything to me,and the possibilities are…endless!!

Dennis Downing

To jam with Elm Treason.

Paul F. ILLIG

My goal for 2022 is to de-stress my life. Too many negatives this past year are turning me into a sourpuss. I don’t like it so it’s time to get rid of some stress factors in my life, mainly my job. Time to consider retiring and taking steps towards it.
A Go-to album for a party would be old school: Van Halen’s first album or AC/DC’s Back in Black. Hit ’em hard and fast!

Your Input: Your PARTY song!

Let’s assume it’s party time! (Maybe New Year’s Eve, for instance)… and YOU are asked to kick off the party with the ultimate good-time rock and roll record.

What is your GO-TO party jam?

The comments section is yours!

Birthdays This Past Week

Birthdays we didn’t mention on our Facebook page.

Metallica’s Lars Ulrich turned 58 on Thursday the 26th.

Annie Lennox, of Eurythmics fame, celebrated her 67th birthday on the 25th.

Jimmy Buffet had his 75th birthday on Christmas Day

Aerosmith bassist, Tom Hamilton, turned 70 on New Year’s Eve.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

This is posted on our Facebook Page this week, but we wanted to share it here in case you miss it there… This is a  TRUE #ThrowbackThursday in every sense.

You may or may not know that last week, we shared a clip from our very first TV appearance EVER (April 15, 2014) – a quickly prepared two-man performance of our song DAYS OF REACTION.

It was us in our infancy, still learning eachother’s nuances, trying to forge our sound. It was the show that, in effect, CREATED Elm Treason.

Well, DIG THIS flashback!

Here we are, the DAY BEFORE that fateful TV spot, rehearsing in Andy’s living room, trying to smooth out our arrangemnet of a song that eventually wound up on our first album, “EVERYTHING.” (Bobby even refines the arrangement toward the end and voices approval on camera).

Pretty cool stuff, we think. A very cool memory for us.

We were getting there. We had the chemistry. We certainly felt we had the SONGS.

For the first time ever, closing out 2021, we share this MEGA-THROWBACK.

(That “water” sound you hear is Andy’s fish tank, behind Bobby’s right shoulder)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK

This one was dug out from our way-back machine. Here we are, during our earliest sessions for what we thought would be our first album – those days BEFORE we became an acoustic-banging rock n roll duo.  February, 2013.

22 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK

Former Beatle George Harrison is stabbed in his home by intruder Michael Abram. Harrison’s wife, Olivia, saves George by attacking Abram with a lamp and poker.

38 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK

Beach Boys’ drummer, Dennis Wilson, dies after diving into very cold water from a boat slip in Marina Del Rey, Los Angeles.  He was 39.

40 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK

The cost of a 45-rpm single reaches a lofty $1.98 (about the same as the cost of downloading two songs today).

48 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK

The Exorcist hits movie theaters. A piece of the Mike Oldfield instrumental “Tubular Bells” is the movie’s theme and is released as a single. It makes it all the way up to #7 on the American charts.

FROM THE “UGGH” FILE…

A pure stinker… but sort of, kind of funny.

SOME THINGS JUST LOOK WIERD

ONE MORE FUNNY

Yep. We went there.
