GROOVY NOODLES
THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER
April 30, 2021
Take Two
So, here we are – the second installment of “Groovy Noodles” … and we can’t help but ask ourselves, “What do you write in a weekly newsletter that will keep people’s interest and not put them to sleep?”
The struggle is real.
We’ll keep it brief, but informative.
New Guitars? Really?
Last week, we mentioned how we will be in Texas in July to maybe do some video work, some recording, and hopefully tackle a few other tasty projects. We are SERIOUSLY looking forward to it.
We’ve decided it may be time TO EXPAND the arsenal. We are CURRENTLY in the market for brand new acoustics to add to the TREASON attack.
And what better place to land these new axes than in Music City itself? Austin!
We each have a few models we’re interested in trying out. We’ll keep you updated.
Facebook Topic Help
Just about everyone who gets this newsletter came to discover Elm Treason through Facebook. (For that, we are grateful to Facebook).
One of the things we love to do on our page is post “topics” that allow people to get “interactive” with us. For instance:
“What was your first favorite song?”
“What was the first music you spent your own money on?”
“What is the greatest song intro ever?”
We’d love to get some fresh ideas for things we can talk about on the page that’ll get the comments a-flowin’. Got any ideas? Leave it below.
Seriosuly, we’d LOVE to hear from you on this.
Is that right?
So, yes… It is official!! ELM TREASON’s first three albums are now available for full streaming on SPOTIFY.
Just dig this link —>
Now, you can listen to “DAYS OF REACTION,” “ACOUSTIC TREASON” and “RHYME AND TREASON.”
Enjoy!

Don’t forget to fine a place in Austin to gig. Do it free you never know who’s watching. Could be a good place to try out your new toys. Mr. Postman by The Beatles.
We will DEFINITELY, for the infinitely MINUTE amount of time we will be there, be checking out as much music as possible… Maybe sneak in an open mic night somewhere…. IF POSSIBLE.
First song _ king of the road
T Rex – Electric Warrior
Greatest intro is a hard one as would depend on one’s style of music.
Nice…. Greatest INTRO would be hard… kind of like, GREATEST opening line… I (Andy) suppose it would all depend on the person’s genre of preference, just as you say…. I’m a man of means by no means…
How about “to which song did you lose your virginity?” LoLoL
I don’t really think you guys will post that, but I’m happy to be the first commenter and to drop that bomb ????????????
LOLOLOLOL!!! That would be a GREAT ONE, frankly. Oh, MAN!!!! Talk about a fun one……. Thinking back… Hmmmmmmm…
Canadian music… of course there is the obvious but how about the little in the band that you saw in a small club? My friends and I shall we say discuss animatedly what music that is Canadian is actually known outside of Canada.? Concert where the opening unknown band blew you away possibly even more than seeing the headliner? Personally I just want to know what a guitar lick yes and if it is what I think it is then what is your favourite guitar lick?
Oooh, leave it to you, Shelley to come up with some dandies there. Wow. THANK YOU. I (Andy) especially love the Opening Act question. Thank you so much!!
It’s impossible to remember my first favourite song but what pops into my head is Do Wah Diddy Diddy which of course I recently changed the lyrics to, “Who’s you daddy and what did he do?”
I had access to my older sister’s music so I think the first time I spent my own money on music was Alice Cooper’s Killer or Love It To Death I bought them within weeks of each other and can’t remember which was first. I remember saving up my allowance for weeks when I was about 8 years old to buy a harmonica that was attached to two Beatles song lessons. Love Me Do and one other I can’t remember.
Greatest song intro ever? That’s hard. There are so many. I’m going with School’s Out as my first favourite but I’d be equally happy with Black Dog or Still Raining Still Dreaming.
LOVE the intro to Still Raining, Still Dreaming… love how it initially fades into the beginning of 1983…. then comes back as its own song. That CHATTY guitar is just delicious.
Could be “Please Please Me” or “Little Child” or “Thank You Girl” …. just some ideas…
Another song that sticks out when I was young is To Sir With Love.
I (Andy) have ALWAYS loved that song. To this day. Lulu was just so adorable in the day.
Sort of like:
“Who introduced you to, i.e. the Beatles?
GREAT one, Mark…. The thing that got me DEEP into the Beatles (a position I have yet to return from) was a Casey Kasem countdown of Beatles hits… For whatever reason, that just lit the fuse. Been burning since.
Wild Thing Troggs and Eye of the Tiger 100%… First songs that give me a taste in music as a kid Still love both songs now We will Rock You Queen and Yellow Submarine Beatles also early memory favourites
Beatles Anthology 1 NIRVANA Nevermind, Queen Rocks, Bowie 72 Crossroads Bonjovi, Pink Floyd Dark Side the Moon
Bought same day first money spent on music
Outstanding. So much GREAT music you have here, Turlough. I (Andy) don’t think there’s one there I DON’T dig. GREAT topic, brother. Thank you for your input. SOOOOO appreciated.
Great news letter, lots of topics you can do, whats your favourite food mum cooked as a kid.
Your first car
Your worst first date
Stupid things youve done in public
Favourite hobbies/ interests
What do you collect?
Anything that gets group chatter going and builds community like where is everyone from?
All magnificent ideas, Shirl. Sincerely, I mean that…. My original thinking was to keep the page music-centered (and to an extent, pop culture based), but some of these just may work wonderfully to achieve the goal – that is, to get interactions even higher than they are. Thank you so much. 🙂
JUST KEEP ON KEPIN ON
That is the plan, Bill! THANK YOU!
