TREASON NOODLES

– Rumor has it that Bobby has begun getting some song ideas together – possibly for a new Elm Treason album down the road? Hmmmm.

-Rumor also has it that there has been a TON of studio work happening lately. When asked about this particular piece of scuttlebutt, a little birdie insider said, “Remixes. That’s all I can say right now.” Once again, hmmmmm.

OTHER NOODLES

Jim Beard, a keyboardist who played with Steely Dan, died this week at the age of 63. According to a statement, the composer, producer and arranger died on March 2 “from complications due to a sudden illness.”

– Prosecutors on Wednesday abruptly dropped the charges against three men accused of stealing handwritten Eagles lyrics from Don Henley after the bandleader reportedly failed to disclose thousands of pages of evidence on time.

Billy Idol will commemorate the 40th anniversary of his sophomore album “Rebel Yell” with a deluxe expanded edition set to arrive on April 26.

– The Doobie Brothers, according to reports, are in the final stages of completing a new album with Michael McDonald, their first original studio release together since 1980’s “One Step Closer.”

Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks will hit the road this year for the “Yes Epics, Classics and More” tour. It begins May 30 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

– Revered music industry technician Bob Heil, best known for inventing the Talk Box effect unit, died this week at the age of 83. Peter Frampton and Joe Walsh are probably the best known artists who used it with great success.

Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner died last Sunday following a battle with glioblastoma, a fast-growing form of brain cancer. He was only 57 years old.

Your Answer Is…

Hi, Treasonites!

Last week, we had the highest participation we’ve ever had on “YOUR ANSWER IS.” THANK YOU, guys! It was a fun one, to be sure… so we thought we’d do another one in the same spirit.

Things look like they got a little out of hand here. A fight broke out. The aftermath, as you can see, is pure rock and roll chaos.

As it turns out, it was a song that inspired this mayhem.

If someone walked up and showed you this picture and asked you: “What song was playing when the fight broke out?”

Your answer is:

Thank you Andy & Bobby for mentioning Brit Turners death. That has consumed me for the past week. He was one great exceptional human being ! Why do we always lose the good guys............So I cant think beyond BBS songs this week. Brit befriended me the last 2 years of his life, and greatly improved the quality of my life.

DO BLUE!

Since we’re sharing a bluesy ELM TREASON song this week, we thought we’d list (off the top of our heads) a few of our favorite blues-rock,  blues-inspired or bluesy-vibed albums.

Now, this is literally a subject that could trigger a list of 500 albums. Or more! EASILY!

We KNOW (very much on purpose) that we have excluded some BIG NAMES and RECORDS from this list (Cream, Zeppelin, Hendrix, on and on and on).. So, if you have any favorites, please share them in the comments section!

Here are six to get the convo started.

The Allman Brothers Band –  ‘At Fillmore East’ (1971)

Fleetwood Mac – ‘Then Play On’ (1969)

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble – ‘Texas Flood’ (1983)

John Mayall and the Blues Breakers – ‘Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton’ (1966)

ZZ Top – ‘Tres Hombres’ (1973)

Buddy Guy and Junior Wells – ‘Buddy Guy and Junior Wells Play the Blues’ (1972)
