THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 127

JANUARY 12, 2024

TREASON NOODLES

– We’ve really been having a great time sharing these “deep dive” looks into the early days of Elm Treason. We’re sharing our second video in our “In the Beginning” series this week. Check this newsletter for a link… or your e-mails… or the Uptown Q online group! Thanks for the AMAZING feedback so far.

– We’re thinking of starting a podcast – a three or four minute audio segment featuring the boys in the band talking music and other delectables delivered directly to you weekly. They would be short, sweet, entertaining. We would offer it as a kind of insider subscription service – maybe a few dollars a month – to help keep this Elm Treason machine rolling. We would, of course, make sure the content is absolutely worth three or four dollars a month. We’re discussing it at length.

-Elm Treason is not touring… but how would you like to be on an official Elm Treason Tour T-Shirt? What are we talking about? What do we mean by this enigmatic – yet thoroughly compelling – question? Stay tuned!

OTHER NOODLES

James Kottak, drummer for Kingdom Come and Scorpions died this week at age 61

– The Rolling Stones have announced the release of a new live album from their 2002-03 “Licks” World Tour. “The Rolling Stones Live at the Wiltern” features the band’s Nov. 4, 2002, set from Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre.

Sinead O’Connor, who passed away last July at the age of 56, is said to have died of natural causes, according to a London coroner’s office.

– The Eagles were joined by one of their longtime collaborators, J.D. Souther, at two of their recent concerts in Los Angeles. Souther appeared alongside the band to perform three hits he co-wrote with the group, “Best of My Love,” “New Kid in Town” and “Heartache Tonight.”

Del Palmer, the long-time bassist and engineer for Kate Bush, died this past week at age 71.

Michael Bolton revealed he’d undergone urgent brain surgery, forcing him to postpone his upcoming touring schedule. The singer, 70, said he’d been diagnosed with a tumor and was now recovering from the medical procedure, leaving him no option but to disappoint fans.

Your Answer Is…

Hi, Treasonites!

Once upon a time, full albums were not only considered works of art, but were the best way to escape into an artist’s creativity and connect with them.

Radio hits, deep cuts, song-order, even artwork were all part of the experience.

This week, this is our focus.

Someone approaches you and asks, “What was the last album you listened to in its entirety straight-through?”

Your answer is…

Oddly, (without trying to suck up!) it was Without A Tribe by this band called Elm Treason! Prior to that, it was Pink Floyd The Wall (mandatory listening once a week minimum). On a side note, I think the musician diagnosed with bass face is Andy. Am I right?

Ann

Without A Tribe from P!NK

Martin

Kind of blue – Miles Davis

Jack!

Rhyme and Treason. Twice. No kidding.

Bill Boys

Without a Tribe.
Recently I revisited a few Beatles albums, so, excluding “Tribe” it was Rubber Soul.

Rick Kendrick

Ghalia Volt/Shout Sister Shout/2023

Saw her about 6 weeks ago as part of the Allman Betts Family Revival and have been checking her out more since I got back home.

Wayne Eason

John Hiatt – Walk On

Patricia Rose

😅😂🤣 Im sorry, I lost all my albums in a basement flood and I never bought another since. I believe 8 tracks, cassettes and cds came out then. But the most memorable album I remember is Elton John’s Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy! I did listen to my Boston, America, and other albums, but I can’t remember titles anymore.

Elm Treason, Days of Reaction…please reference discussion on the Uptown Q and insert crazed emoji!! Before my questLOL it was The Rolling Stones newest, Hackney Diamonds
I went to listen to a lecture on how the music we listen says something about our personalities with Dr. Susan Rogers. It was a fascinating lecture but what she reminded me of was the days when we we go to someone’s house to specifically listen to an album, remember those days?I think that is something we are all missing in this age of downloading a song. I bought her book but cannot give it a review or must read as it is in print and I bought it for a friend for xmas and the audio version is downloaded but my $600.00 special formated reader is DEAD!!!

Hey Andy.I made a conscious effort to listen to the whole album when the new Stones came out and truthfully it was effortless. In my opinion it is a fantastic album beginning to end…no skips needed Of course, Ihave my 2 faves but they went on to a playlist but I listen to this whole album frequently. The last song with Lady Gaga gives me goosebumps and is absolutely gorgeous!
Truthfully, 2 albums of Elm Treason are played at my house weekly and never any skips always need the whole album, as they are all amazing and how could it be any other way afterall, my closet is filled with ET clothing, ‘Voice of Treason is framed and hanging on my living room wall, on of only 3 albums to have this distinction and I often enjoy my morning coffe in your mug and indulge in an adult pop once in a while in an ET beer mug! One might say that Elm treason is my choice of decorand that works just fine with me!

Katie

George Winston – December

Katie

It has some non-standard Christmas tunes one it. I listen to all year round. Love it.

Dave J

Dark Side of the Moon – has to be heard in its entirety!

Daniel

Queensryche – Operation Mindcrime

Michael Schuster

Finishing paper work at my desk at work so I needed tunes….first was Give It Back To You by The Record Company, then just got done listening to Acoustic Treason by Elm Treason. First time going from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Home Alone Blues was new to me. Nice! …surprises around every corner as I get to know this music.

Shelley Briley

Metallica 72 Seasons, but we like their vintage stuff better

Cindy Findlater

i like soundtracks and compilations so my last “play it all” was frosh the mullet years. before that amanda marshall

Ellen Hakala

Terry Allen & the Panhandle Mystery Band love his Pedal Steal album which is just one song and his Just like Moby Dick album. Plus, I love Willie’s Red Headed Stranger album it gets a listen every week.

Chris Davis

The only album from GTR, called (😜) GTR. It got heavily criticized, I don’t know why! I love it!
