GROOVY NOODLES
THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 125
DECEMBER 22, 2023
PLAY LOUD, LISTEN LOUDER!
TREASON NOODLES
– This will be last issue of GROOVY NOODLES until next year. Look for the next issue of GROOVY NOODLES to hit your inbox on Friday, January 5th.
Speaking of “INBOX” …
– Just reiterating from last week – Starting on Tuesday, January 2nd, we will be sending out an additional weekly email to everyone on our mailing list. This new weekly email, which will be sent every Tuesday morning, will be short, sweet and feature a little band tidbit or exclusive behind-the-scenes goody. This email will be IN ADDITION to the weekly “Groovy Noodles” newsletter that is sent out every Friday morning. So, please look forward to TWO emails a week from us starting in 2024. If you DON’T want this, you are obviously free to unsubscribe. We make it easy, if that’s your wish. And no hard feelings. Just a heads-up for you that we think will be a ton of fun for fans of the band.
OTHER NOODLES
– Brian May has expressed outrage after fans reported that their Queen + Adam Lambert concert videos had been removed from YouTube and Instagram. “I’ve asked our management to look into it, and try to figure out if there is a reason for Instagram and Universal suddenly becoming so Draconian.”
– Billy Idol said this week it would be incredible to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: “It’s a big thank you to the fans in lots of ways. They really believed and hung in through thick and thin.”
– Meanwhile, Cher has emphatically added herself to the list of superstars who want nothing to do with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
– Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee faces accusations of sexual assault in a new lawsuit filed on Friday, December 15th. It allegedly took place during a February 2003 helicopter trip from San Diego County to Van Nuys, which Lee took with plaintiff Jane Doe. She accused Lee of “forcibly groping, kissing and penetrating her with his fingers, and attempting to force her to perform oral copulation” during the trip.
– Former AC/DC drummer Colin Burgess died this past week at the age of 77.
– Legendary DJ and Los Angeles radio host Jim Ladd died on December 16th at the age of 75 after suffering a heart attack.
– Julian Lennon set the record straight on his relationship with brother Sean Lennon in a recent interview, telling Esquire that rumors of their so-called feuds are “such bull.”
– A collection of studio outtakes recorded by Bob Dylan in 1973 has surfaced in Europe, thanks to a copyright loophole. The 28-track collection was recorded during the “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid” soundtrack sessions and is titled 50th Anniversary Collection 1973. Earlier this month, a limited number of copies became available in Europe, and have already been listed online for hundreds of dollars.
– Motley Crue is not a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Bassist Nikki Sixx says, “I think people get too worked up about the RRHF. If you get in that’s cool and if not, it’s not a big deal. It’s not some elite club that defines you. It’s an award. None of us hopefully make music just for awards.”

Dusty Hill of ZZ Top is shot in the stomach when his girlfriend pulls off his boot and his .38-caliber derringer falls out and discharges. In February, we will see the awesome Columbus Chamber Music Society’s presentation of Bach, Silvestrov, and Mendelssohn in a beautiful old church.
That is fantastic!
Bobby and I (Andy) quite regularly went to Lincoln Center and saw some of the greatest concert performances of our lives.
Nothing like it.
None so far!! 😔
I (Andy) do have one.
Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden in May on his birthday.
It will be his second to last performance there, ever as he finishes his residency.
I want to see Amos Lee!
I want to see Elm Treason but being in the West, and the guys not touring, it’s unlikely any time soon.
Me too!!!
We would absolutely love her to do a little tour across these United States.
And obviously elsewhere.
It’s actually a dream of ours.
Sadly, resources and time keep ganging up against us, laughing maniacally, pointing their fingers…
But we shall overcome.
We shall.
Thanks Nancy!
None so far, either.
I (Andy) don’t attend the nearly as many shows as I used to.
It’s not that I’ve lost my taste for it… But life keeps getting in the way of my best laid plans.
But I am looking forward to seeing Billy Joel in May.
Colin James rockin with full band!; James Blonde, friends and local favourites; The Spoons, Honeymoon Suite, Men without Hats and Aflock of Seagulls yes it will take all 4 to make a night of music but Holy ’80;s batman!!; Amanda Marshallback again after 20 years of silence; The Simon and Garfunkel story(which I hear is fabulous) and the next thing to seeing the real guys which has always been a dream and finally a band theat is not Canadian…Godsmack; shoot forgot The Trews! So that takes me up to AprilLOL No big superstar stuff yet but then I have very few bucket list biggies left to see as I covered so many last year! But still a few left and definately some lesser known must see on my list and they are no less important to me in the big scheme of things! I just love love love groovin’ to the energy fo a crowdand a band lovin what they do!
Just reading your comments are energizing, Shelley.
Truly.
If there is such a thing as a concert-going contact buzz that does not involve chemicals, you are the one we all should be standing next to.
Joanna Shaw Taylor is coming to Hagerstown MD in April. Haven’t bought tickets yet, because, well, I’m a 20th Century adult in the 21st Century and I’ll have to get the nerve to order them online.
Understood, brother.
Let me just say, for what it’s worth… I get it. Completely
Let me also say, in my feeble minded attempt to pass along reassurance, that Everything I have in my studio, except the guitars, every Christmas present I have bought over the past 10 years, every concert I have ever attended, every airline ticket I have ever purchased, you name it… It’s all been done online. And I’ve never had a single issue.
I assure you, I am not belittling your concern or apprehension. It’s very real. And it’s very valid.
But if there’s anyone on this planet more cynical than me, I’m not sure I am aware of that person’s existence, but my confidence in purchasing things online with a sufficient sense of safety and security is unabated.
Just doing my best to try and reassure you… But believe me, I get it.
Rock on, brother.
So far Robert Cray in March, Colin Hay in April, Joe Jackson and Hootie with Collective soul in June
Loving it!
Outstanding, Mark. Sincerely.
i would love to see Walk Off the Earth or the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but alas it is not meant to be
Wonderful choices, to be sure.
Maybe someday?
Janes Addiction and or RHCP’s
Absolutely delicious!
Digging it very much.
Well, none to be honest its always too hard to make plans when you are a carer, I would just love a weekend off.
I (Andy) don’t think I have more connected with a comment than yours.
Trying to remember the last time I had a single day off…
Still thinking
Still thinking…
No tickets yet but plan getting tickets to Chicago in May only 10 miles from our house. Dreams do come true
Great hearing from you, Barb.
Truly hope this happens for you.
What a show that will be.
Always great stuff to read and share with friends….
JPA
Thank you, brother.
It is our honor and pleasure to have you out there as part of the Elm Treason family.
