GROOVY NOODLES
THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 124
DECEMBER 15, 2023
PLAY LOUD, LISTEN LOUDER!
TREASON NOODLES
Starting on Tuesday, January 2nd, we will be sending out an additional weekly email to everyone on our mailing list. This new weekly email, which will be sent every Tuesday morning, will be short, sweet and feature a little band tidbit or exclusive behind-the-scenes goody. This email will be IN ADDITION to the weekly “Groovy Noodles” newsletter that is sent out every Friday morning. So, please look forward to TWO emails a week from us starting in 2024. If you DON’T want this, you are obviously free to unsubscribe. We make it easy, if that’s your wish. And no hard feelings. Just a heads-up for you that we think will be a ton of fun for fans of the band.
Andy is back in Texas for an extended period, spending the holidays with family.
Bobby – a music teacher extraordinaire in Brooklyn – is counting down the days to the Christmas break. As much as he loves teaching music to elementary school kids, some serious decompression is needed.
The boys in the band are working on a new “Elm Treason Tour” t-shirt idea that LITERALLY affects you directly. It’s a FUN idea that will absolutely require your participation. No, the boys are NOT going out on tour (sadly), but they will be involving YOU in a seriously cool and unique plan. Look out for details in early January.
In case you missed it… it’s our new video.
This clip had it’s world premiere last week in our private Facebook Group “The Uptown Q” and yesterday on our main Facebook page.
So, we thought we’d feature it one more time here.
It’s the second single from our latest album “WITHOUT A TRIBE.”
If you haven’t already, it’s time to “LOCK AND LOAD.”
And if you have, why not load up again?

David Bowie
Pretty damn cool to say you saw David Bowie live.
Do you recall which tour it was?
1969 as a 10 year old I snuck into the State Theatre in Toledo, Ohio to see Alice Cooper…well sort of, mostly listened to…My older brother was into theatre and “Linro Productions” rehearsed and did their shows at “The State”. Being 10 years younger, I hung out and learned all the places to hide and sneak in.
Alice Cooper at the beginning of his career… How cool is that?
An amazing memory, Chuck.
Not sure. Might have been Dylan, the Stones, or jimi Hendrix.
Or maybe the Beach Boys.
You know what? Any of those choices brings the needle deep into the red on the “AWESOME” meter.
Thank you, Ira.
Billy Joel, ’78
The man was at the height of his songwriting prowess in 1978.
Incredible that you got to see him.
A buddy of mine and I (Andy) will be seeing him on his birthday next May at Madison Square Garden… His second to last show there ever. Cannot wait.
Melissa Manchester 1975 Academy of Music, Philadelphia.
That is just awesome, Katie. I remember seeing Melissa Manchester as a little boy on the Muppet show… And I thought she was so pretty.
Excellent memory. Thank you for sharing.
Aerosmith
Very very cool.
Generally speaking. From everything, I (Andy) have heard, they put on a damn good show…
I have also heard from a few that they can sometimes be off.
Hopefully, when you saw them, they were spot on.
Thanks, Christine.
Howard Jones ❤️
That is pretty damn cool.
I (Andy) recall when he was a mainstay on MTV back in the day. Thanks, Penny.
Does Dommy Osmond count??Well I am going to go literal and say no so… Rush and Max Webster but that was at my high school so…first stadium concert was Meatloaf and ELO! I was 9, 14 and 5 years old respectively!
Of course, Donny Osmond counts!
And I (Andy) don’t care what anybody says, I think that’s pretty cool that you saw him back in the day.
Of course, seeing Rush back in the day… Well, that’s on a completely different level.
Like we have always said… Your concert going résumé is gold.
Well I am doing my best to make it platinumLOL But upon reflection it seems that 1972 was a pivotal year for me…Some boys in Grade 6 had a band and they played, ‘Hitchin’ a Ride at an assembly and I think at that moment my live music junkie broke free not to mention a little puppy love so I guess a groupie I became! Then to see Donny Osmond and David Cassidy that summer, not too shabby for a 9 year old It was also that year that my babysitter introduced me to Bowie and Elton John and of course they were so far removed from all of the music that my mom had playing constantly in the house and the car as just like you I was surrounded with music since birth. Thanks mom!!
Triple bill;Rush,Ted Nugent, Aerosmith
Holy crap!
Talk about a trifecta of Fire Power.
That is one hell of an initiation into concert attendance.
James Gang
Wow, that is all kinds of awesome.
Talk about a killer memory.
My (Andy’s) mouth is salivating…. To the point of needing two-ply paper towels.
Well, I am getting rather old but the one that sticks out to me is Chuck Berry.
Old?
Nonsense!
Cultivated, yes. Experienced, definitely. Well-versed, absolutely. Learned, without a doubt.
But I old?
Music is timeless… And the souls that ingest its delectable rhythms are equally so.
And to say you saw Chuck Berry live… As childish as this sounds, I am insanely jealous.
He was the quintessential rock ‘n’ roll poet. End of story.
Molly Hatchet at a dive bar in Norfolk, VA in the late 80’s.
Sounds like a deliciously intimate show. How cool is that?
Outstanding, Curtis.
The grand old Opry in1980,it was part of a volunteer job,I had in high school,so the hospital paid for the ticket. It was in Duluth,Minnesota. Saw Tom T. Hall and Minnie Pearl, and others
That is amazingly cool.
I remember as a little boy, listening to Tom T Hall. My mom played one of his albums incessantly.
And, of course, Minnie Pearl, with the ever present price tag hanging off her hat…
I have lots of memories as a little boy.
Appreciate you commenting here very much.
Abba: ’75.
I’m just gonna say it right now… And I don’t care who knows it… And I don’t care who will scoff… But Abba has some of the best pop music ever created.
Period.
And like David Grohl, I am out there. No shame. No embarrassment.
I (Andy) personally think that one of the greatest pop tunes ever composed and recorded is “the name of the game.” Absolute brilliance. The perfect pop song.
Sorry
Went off on a little rant there.
Thanks, Bob!
First concert was Bob Dylan with my brother
That is stupendous, Shirl.
Amy and I (Andy) want to say we have seen Bob Dylan live before it’s too late. Fortunately, he still going strong.
Moody Blues
Love it!
If I (Andy) may inquire… what tour did you see them on?
Chicago, 5th row, front & center! Peter Cetera winked, waved and pointed me out 🥰🤩😍 It was an awesome night!
First rock concert was Black OAK Arkansas and Quick Silver. These 2 groups started me on Rock. Been to over 100 different concerts and play for several different bands over the years. Hung up my guitar a few years ago. Yet I still enjoy live concerts….
Milli Vanilli.
No…seriously.
*sigh*
Yes, I can hear you laughing all the way over here.
