THE ELM TREASON NEWSLETTER NUMBER 114

SEPTEMBER 15, 2023

TREASON NOODLES

– The boys in the band are prepping for another video/photo shoot scheduled for the weekend of September 23rd. The SECOND music video from the “WITHOUT A TRIBE” album is scheduled to drop in early October. What will it be? Stay tuned.

– Work on the new ELM TREASON website – as well as the proposed membership site – continued in earnest this week after a couple of months of inertia.

OTHER NOODLES

– The Rolling Stones upcoming album “Hackney Diamonds” will have some notable guest stars: Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Elton John as well as original Stones’ bassist Bill Wyman.

Skid Row has postponed their October 2023 tour dates due to health issues of singer Erik Gronwall.

Kansas will continue their 50th anniversary tour with 20 additional dates beginning early next year. The next leg will kick off February 2nd in Pensacola, Florida and continue through May 18 in New Haven, Connecticut.

– The Talking Heads reunited for a live Q&A in honor of the 40th anniversary of their concert film “Stop Making Sense,” which is returning to theaters. It was the first time all four members  — David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison — have appeared together in more than 20 years.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has suffered vocal cord damage that will force him off the road for thirty days.

– Very cool. Eric Clapton paid tribute to Robbie Robertson, who died last month, by opening the first show of his 2023 U.S. tour with two songs by the Band.

Bob Dylan has announced more dates for the fall leg of his “Rough and Rowdy Ways” tour. The newly announced shows include stops in Springfield, Massachusetts, Port Chester, New York and Waterbury, Connecticut. The tour begins October 1st in Kansas City.

– The Eagles launched their “Long Goodbye farewell tour” at Madison Square Garden with Steely Dan as their opening act.

You Say: Good to Meet You

Hello Treasonites!

You have a chance to meet one musician from any time in history. It could be an extended dinner. It could be going out for drinks. It could be a walk through the park. It could even be a simple 15 second handshake and a “thank you,” whatever is satisfying to you… Dead or alive.

Someone comes up to you and asks: “Which musician in music history would you like to meet most…”

You say….

I would love to have met the Cars. Their music was the soundtrack of my life for so many years. Still love them and mourn Ric and Ben . . . . Easton could flat play and was very underrated, Hawkes could play anything! and loved Robinson on the drums . . . . all of them were equally wonderful to me.

*** BONUS Video ***

Here is a bonus music video that we have never shared anywhere until this weekend.

Consider it a world premiere!

It’s a tune that goes back to our fourth album “THE VOICE OF TREASON.” It is the song “FIREFLY.”

Bobby wrote this song for his children. It is a lullaby, a gift to his sons, a song that is exquisite in its simplicity, yet encompassing a complexity of emotion and sentiment.

Back when we were sending out song previews of this album to family and friends to get feedback, we asked folks to rate the songs on a scale of 1 through 10.

Our goal, of course, was to get initial impressions of the album, seeing which songs made the greatest impact on first and second listens.

“FIREFLY” received the highest ratings of them all.

Enjoy!
