TREASON NOODLES
– This is Bobby’s last full week of summertime away from work (although he has been working for weeks prepping for the new school year from home). He returns to the classroom in his capacity as music teacher extraordinaire next week.
– Andy remains in Texas, working from there, to be close to family. The ridiculous heat continues.
– Response to the band’s new music video “Up to Me” has been magnificent. Thank you all.
– Work on the band’s second music video from the album begins very soon. Expect its release in early October.
OTHER NOODLES
– Peter Gabriel has released another new song from his upcoming album, i/o. It is called “Love Can Heal.”
– Drummer Joey Kramer will not be part of Aerosmith’s farewell tour when it kicks off on Sept. 2 in Philadelphia. he was the band’s orginal drummer for 50-plus years. “While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the band said in a statement.
– Corey Taylor, lead singer for Slipknot, said this week he hates the Beatles’ song “All You Need is Love.” He described the track as “hippie garbage” and “one of the biggest pieces of shit that I’ve ever heard in my life. And every time I hear it, I feel like I’m getting shot at. Put it that way — it’s that bad.”
– Duran Duran will release a new album called “Danse Macabre” on October 27th.
– Peter Frampton has announced more U.S. tour dates for this fall. Eight more concerts have been added to the guitarist’s 2023 “Never Say Never tour,” beginning November 9 in Louisville, Kentucky, and ending November 22 in Nashville.
– “Relentless,” the 12th Pretenders album, drops on Friday, September 1st.
– Foreigner has extended their ongoing farewell tour by announcing the two-part “Feels Like the Last Time” Las Vegas residency, which will take place at the Venetian Theatre in 2024.
– Bassist Geezer Butler said he’d be open to a single concert reunion with Black Sabbath.
– Former Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden died at age 72.

After the latest in a series of incidents between feuding brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, Oasis finally split, with Noel walking out for good. “It is with some sadness and great relief… I quit Oasis tonight,” he says. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil suffers a mustard-related injury when he angrily breaks a jar of Gulden’s before a show in Rochester, New York (he wanted Frenchie’s). The show is cancelled, and Neil is airlifted to Baltimore, where surgeons work to repair nerve and tendon damage in his hand.
47 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK
Boston release their self-titled debut album, which despite being mostly recorded in Tom Scholz’ basement studio, becomes one of the best-selling debuts of all time.
53 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK
Jimi Hendrix opens Electric Ladyland Studios in New York City. He dies a few months later, but the studio lives on, with many major acts recording there over the years.
59 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK
The Beatles smoke pot for the first time, supplied by Bob Dylan, who joins the band after one of their concerts in New York state. Dylan is surprised they haven’t tried it before, as he thought they sang “I get high” in their song “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” when it was really “I can’t hide.”
60 YEARS AGO THIS PAST WEEK
Martin Luther King delivers his famous “I Have A Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. The music connection: Peter, Paul and Mary play their hit version of Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” before King speaks.

No sucking up here but since I received my mp3 copy of ‘Without a Trib’, I have started my day with ‘Lock and Load! While waiting for my morning jolt of coffee, I have this song primed every night to just hit play. Nothing gets the blood pumping and the body moving like this song and it must be before coffee because I must dance and I do not want to spill coffeeLOLBefore this wonderful gem…Call me the Breeze, Skynard, Twist and Shout, Beatles or Wild Thing, The Troggs were my go to tunes
“Pump up the volume” by M/A/R/R/S. First heard it when I’d go out dancing w my friends in college more than a minute ago 🙂
It’s 33 years old now, but “The Power”, by Snap!, still pumps my adrenaline.

Well, I don’t really listen to dance music that often anymore, but Conga by Gloria Estefan is a real “pump me up” song for me.
Just read that today (Friday 9/1) is Gloria’s birthday. Coincidence?
