Your Answer Is…
Hi Treasonites!
This week. we keep it fairly simple… but no less fun.
We asked this a few months ago, but we’ve gotten so many new riders here on The “Q,” we thought we’d hit it again.
So, if someone comes up to you and asks you to “name an album you highly recommend everyone listen to at least once in their lifetimes…”
Your answer is…

LATEST TREASON NOODLES
– Hey, all! How does an INDIE BAND stay alive? By providing cool and interesting content to dedicated friends and fans.
For almost two weeks now, we’ve been promoting a three-song CD “single” that features a slice of ELM TREASON history that many have asked about, but almost no one has ever heard: The pre-ROCKOUSTIC era of the band.
That time when Elm Treason was an ELECTRIC BAND!
If you missed this… or if you’ve yet to bring this thing home, please dig this video:
The green button below this sentence is the “link” Andy referred to in the video that sits above this sentence.

“WITH YOU” from the new CD single “WITH YOU”
In a long ago, far away land where Elm Treason was a brand new band looking to make a mark of some kind, there was ELECTRIC Elm Treason music – fully plugged in, amps turned up, overdrive dialed in.
The band has been pushing their new “old” debut single “WITH YOU” for the past ten days. It was the single that was supposed to drop 11 years ago… but never did. It has been sitting patiently in “the vault,” waiting to emerge.
It finally has.
Yes, Virginia, Elm Treason was – in another life – a plugged in band.
Here is the title track to the three-song extended CD single.
If you’re interested in getting a copy (as of this publication, less than 20 are left), go here —> “WITH YOU” – THE DEBUT SINGLE – 11 YEARS LATE”
(digital download versions are also available, if you’d prefer)
POWER BALLADS
One online definition of a “POWER BALLAD” reads: “a slow rock song with a strong, emotional vocal delivery and typically a grandiose production.”
Many say the power ballad was born in the early 70s with Styx… or Aerosmith…
Many say the genre hit its peak during the “hair band” era of the 80s.
Lots of tunes can qualify.
Here are 15 in no order whatsoever.
Yes, we left out quite a few… but on purpose.
If you want to add to this list, hit that comments section!
Motley Crue – Home Sweet Home
Aerosmith – Dream On
Night Ranger – Sister Christian
REO Speedwagon – Keep on Loving You
Journey – Open Arms
Styx – Lady
Whitesnake – Is This Love
Nazareth – Love Hurts
Kiss – Beth
Bon Jovi – I’ll Be There For You
Tesla – Love Song
Metallica – Nothing Else Matters
Guns N Roses – November Rain
Foreigner – I Want to Know What Love Is

Bruce Springsteen gets a huge career boost when he opens for Bonnie Raitt at her Boston Arena show. Playing his full two-hour set at Raitt’s insistence (rare for an opening act), Bruce is so impressive that Rolling Stone’s Jon Landau writes in Boston’s The Real Paper, “I saw rock and roll future, and its name is Bruce Springsteen. And on a night when I needed to feel young, he made me feel like I was hearing music for the very first time.” Landau went on to become Springsteen’s manager and producer.

The very first Grammy Awards are held in Los Angeles, with Record of the Year going to Domenico Modugno’s “Nel Blu, Dipinto di Blu (Volare)” and Henry Mancini’s The Music From Peter Gunn soundtrack winning Album of the Year. Anybody who knows me already knows the answer. Has to be The Dark Side of the Moon.
Knew it!
😁😁
Stellar.
Soul of a City Boy by Jesse Colin Young
Will have to check that out, Tom.
Great hearing from you, man.
Can’t pick just one
Queen “Night at the Opera”
The Beatles “White Album” and “Sgt. Pepper”
Jethro Tull “Aqualung” and “Songs From the Wood”
Yes “Yessongs”
Talking Heads “Stop Making Sense”
A Smorgasbord of Audio delights to choose from.
Small Change – Tom Waits
Great choice, Martin.
Bob Marley, Natty Dread
No argument here. Thanks, Ira!
or, “Child is father to the man” BS&T
Oh, what the hell… Play them both!
Sgt Peppers…
A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Beatles: The White Album
From Helter skelter to Honey pie… From piggies to Revolution 9…
And all stops in between.
Oh gosh, There’s so many…
But I’m going to say
STING,
Fields of Gold.
STEELY Dan, AJA.
And Al Stewart…
The Year of the Cat. 🙂
Digging those choices, April!
Well it goes without saying, all Elm Treason records are a must! Damn, in my opinion, there are so many so I am going with my ‘WOW’ wall and saying, Shakespeare my Butt, Lowest of the Low and I am going to sneak in their 2nd album Hallucigenia!!
Thanks for including us in that lot.
Quite an honor!
Astral Weeks by Van Morrison
Southwestern by Jason Isbell
and lots more…
I (Andy) have the Van Morrison album on vinyl.
I also have “lots more” on vinyl.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, Janet.
Close To The Edge
A masterpiece.
Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral. Brilliant album. Trent Reznor actually uses idée fixe throughout the entire album. The only other composer I know that has done that is Hector Berlioz. Definitely Reznor’s best work.
And if there’s any way y’all can muster up a few bucks, please consider buying our With You CD single. For die hard Treasonites, it’s a collectors item. The window of opportunity is closing so JUMP ON IT We thank you in advance.
“ without a tribe” is another one I would add to that “must listen to at least once“ list.
But that’s me (Andy).
Love that 9 inch nails album! My cd has been ordered, as all Elm Treason is also a must!
The 12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus by Spirit
Delicious, Phil.
Rubber Soul – The Beatles
Marvelous record. One of my (Andy) all-time favorites.
And I would say that for both the American version as well as the British version.
“ I’ve just seen a face” which is on the British “help!” Album appears on the American version of “Rubber Soul.”
And it fits perfectly.
Abbey Road
There is definitely a correlation between the love you take, and the love you make.
The boys had it right.
Bonnie Raitt – Luck of the Draw
Great to hear from you, Betty.
Excellent selection.
Manfred Mann ” Nightingales and Bombers “
Oooh, Nice pick!
Uriah Heep’s Magician’s Birthday
It’s been a mighty long time since I (Andy) have listened to that one.
Might have to remedy that.
I have two bands that I liked. One was Badfinger, they had some great songs but a sad tragic end to the band. The Raspberry’s, Eric Carmen, Great singer song writer, I liked the guitar changes, they were more like pop rockers playing love songs, I know i said two bands but, I have to mention the Beatles no matter what album, I liked it, I was around when they played the first time on the. Ed Sullivan show, My parents said, look at that long hair? I mention these bands because they bring out a lot of good memories in my life. I love music, and I have respect for anyone who prevokes good feeling, and there’s lots of them. I will never forget the best times in my life was playing in the garage to bars, taverns, weddings where ever, It’s in my blood!!
Badfinger and The Raspberries.
The original power pop bands. Great stuff. Both of whom were directly influenced by the Beatles.
Of course, the Beatles influenced Everybody.
Sadly, Badfinger is vastly underrated… and Except for the one hit that gets constant radio play on classic rock radio, the raspberries have been reduced to a hint of a memory.
Thanks, Roger.
Thanks for your reply, means a lot to me!! Never thought I would end up being a groupie.
That is a hard one, but I will go with The Houston Kid by Rodney Crowell and Car Wheels on a Gravel Road Lucinda Williams
Always adore your musical choices,Ellen.
Sincerely.
Selling England by the Pound by Genesis
Rick Derringer, ‘Three Kings of the Blues’ or Layla! Clapton’s album is true brilliance, imho.
Raw power, Iggy and the stooges
The only real punk rock ever, lol, just my old ass opinion, lol some more
It’s Alive by Ramones.
It’s a snapshot of their first few albums done live 12/31/1977. It’s a perfect sampler of what makes Ramones fans like myself absolutely rabid.
Joe Bonamassa , Time Clocks
All Day Music by WAR. A great mix of smooth and funky Afro-Cuban music. If this album doesn’t get your body moving, nothing will.
Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Their Satanic Majesties Request by The Rolling Stones
Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles
But the top of the list now is any album by Elm Treason and I truly mean that no joke
Are you Experience! Jimi!!
