Day 5
THERE’S CRYING… AND THEN THERE’S CRYING
We sincerely hope you’ve been enjoying your journey through “The Voice of Treason.”
Day Five has arrived!
Remember the old line, “I’d never want to be a member of a club that would have me for a member“?
Well, what if the focus were on the opposite perspective? “I want so badly to be a part of that club, I’ll do anything to get in“? What if that was the only way to be thought of as being “legit?” Indeed, there are many ways to kill yourself without killing yourself.
“Hey, we thought ELM TREASON was a feel good groove rock band. What’s gives? Suicide??“
A little dab of metaphor will do ya now and again. After all, there’s suicide, and then there’s suicide.
JAM BY A THOUSAND TEXTS
But first… We love that face-to-face, knee-to-knee, guitar-to-guitar collaboration time. We work deliciously well that way. Sometimes, however, when creative lightning decides to strike, getting together isn’t possible… so other methods must be employed. Today’s song was written in this way:
THE MUSIC (SONG 5) – “CRY OF A SUICIDAL SINGER”
“Is this the way I get to say I’m the winner?“
Written by Andrew Roman and Robert Steel
Produced by Elm Treason
Recorded, Mixed and Mastered at Realm Tones Music
It was a tragic incident that triggered this song… but like so many tunes, it evolved into something much different than its original inspiration. The title is intriguing enough, but what is it really about? We explain:
“CRY OF A SUICIDAL SINGER”
(Listen now. Feel it.)
LYRICS
Dance me through the open wound of a hard night that bleeds into the day, one way..
No, let it go. No, let it go.
Breath collides against the glass from the outside, hands upon the pane with a cold eye.
No, let it go. No, let it go.
(Don’t you ever try to let it go).
Close an eye, suicide, you’re never singing. Still alive, suicide, no rhymes ringing. In my mind, suicide, to believe I’m bringing
all I have and all I am – alive..
What’s the fight? Is there delight from the inside with hands around the pain? In a hole?
No, let it go. No, let it go.
Is this the way I get to say I’m the winner? Wish you could’ve have known how it goes.
Don’t. Let it go. Don’t. Let it go.
(Don’t you ever try to let it go).
Close an eye, suicide, you’re never singing. Still alive, suicide, no rhymes ringing. In my mind, suicide, to believe I’m bringing
all I have and all I am – alive..
Lullaby and out of sight as I stumble on the way to fall. Anyone?
Don’t let me go. Don’t let me go.
Breath collides upon the ground and I did try, hands into the sand, and its cold.
No, let it go. No, let it go.
(Don’t you ever try to let it go).
Close an eye, suicide, you’re never singing. Still alive, suicide, no rhymes ringing. In my mind, suicide, to believe I’m bringing
all I have and all I am – alive..
Dance me ‘neath the open moon of a soft night that slips into the day, one way
Waoh, let it go. Woah, let it go.
(You should let it go).
Woah, let it go.
(You should let it go).
Woah, let it go.

I really really loved this song fellas shitty subject but it is what is it… made me cry thinking of all them souls who come to the end of the line or can not get out of that huge black hole they find themselves in….
Yes, the inspiration for the song isn’t exactly the happiest subject matter. It’s good to be honest about the origins of such things…and like much of life, sometimes good things comes from not-so-good circumstances. Glad you loved the song. SO GLAD it could reach you.
Without getting sucked into the heavy emotions that are so well expressed, was that a mandolin at one point? My opinion? This song is heavy without being an anchor, if that makes any sense.
Hi Chuck! GREAT to have you comment here. Thanks a million. “Heavy without being an achor.” GREAT WAY to describe it. The last thing we want or NEED is an anchor in the music. But it is kind of heavy, yes. The theme. And as difficult as it is to express the meaning behind it in words, the overall mood and tone comes through…but with just a glimpse of the positive…a glimpse. In this song, there is no madolin. This album, I believe, has three tunes with mandolin…but this one is not one of those. Appreciate the comments, brother.
Ok here we go
Now you guys know how I feel about this song
It is an absolute masterpiece
Love love love it !!!
As always, a pure joy to hear from you, man. Yeah, this song really struck a nreve with a LOT of people without being too overbearing. We definitely didn’t want it to plod along with too much “darkness.” Rather, it seems to be more introspective, reflective. The harmonies came together so well, we were so proud of them! THANK YOU, brother.
Every single song so far on this album is absolutely incredible! It’s a real testament to Your (Andy) and Bobby’s talents. You both have grown so much since your first album and it shows. I see great things for Elm Treason in your future, Well at least I hope so. You guys deserve it! Thanks for another incredible package with lyrics and videos that explain so much and further endear you to your fans. Rock On!
Paul, what can we say here? You’ve given us, arguably, the greatest gift a couple of guitar players could ask for – validation. I haven’t adequate words, man. I hate to sound cliche, but I mean that. Honestly, your reaction and feedback is what we dream of hearing. I’m not going to lie about that. It’s what we as artists long to hear. It means we’re connecting. It means we’ve created something meaningful…. and man, there ain’t nothing that matters more to us. We wanted to connect with you not only with the music but on a personal level as well; Hence, the interviews and extras. There have to be human beings behind all this, otherwise it just doesn’t seem to matter as much. Saying thank you isn’t nearly enough….. but thank you, Paul.
