Day 2

CONFLICT AND CONCURRENCE

Welcome to Day Two  – our second voice of treason! Thanks for stopping in.

We don’t walk around advertising ourselves as an “acoustic band.” Never.

Why? Because the word “acoustic” lives in the brain’s of the general public as a very specific sound and vibe: Folk. Singer-Songwriter. Soft Rock.

Believe us, we aren’t “anti” any of those genres. Far from it. It’s just that we’re bound to create a “disconnect” with people who read that word, hear our music, and are disappointed because we are rocking it. We prefer people “discover” our “acoustic” soul on their own.

Today, we show how “unplugged” and “heavy” are not contradictions. Yet, the words most definitely can be.

METAL IN THEM THAR HILLS?

One of the ELM TREASON modes of operation is to bring that “electric guitar” attitude to the realm of the “unplugged.” Bang it. Ram it. Jam it. It’s all good. Broken guitar strings be damned, to rock is how we roll. Dig this:

THE MUSIC (SONG 2) – (HAVING IT) ALL WAYS”

Out of sight is out of mind, yet distance warms the heart. Great minds think much alike. Yet fools are seldom apart.

Written by Andrew Roman and Robert Steel

Produced by Elm Treason

Recorded, Mixed and Mastered at Realm Tones Music

Whether it is simultaneously having your cake and eating it too, or getting the best of both possible worlds, or simply wanting it all, the great karmic wheel of the universe often mocks and scoffs. “Yeah, right,” it laughs. So do we. We take some tasty conflicts, face ’em off against each other, and lay ’em on top of some “un-acoustic-like” acoustic grooves. See what we mean here:

“(HAVING IT) ALL WAYS”

LYRICS

If you want something right, go it alone, yet two heads better than one.

The worm’s in the mouth of the early bird, yet wait and good things come.

Look all around before you leap, yet hesitate, you’ve lost.

Many hands make the work so light, yet many cooks kill the broth.

Crossin’ your heart, hopin’ to die, meaningless when you’re livin’ a lie.

Crossin’ your heart, needle in eye, without the heart, don’t even try.

Hitch that wagon to that star, but don’t bite more than you chew.

The wheel with the noise gets all the grease, but silence is golden, too.

Out of sight is out of mind, yet distance warms the heart.

Great minds think much alike, yet fools are seldom apart.

Crossin’ your heart, hopin’ to die, meaningless when you’re livin’ a lie.

Crossin’ your heart, needle in eye, without the heart, don’t even try.

Meanwhile, I’ll figure it out, how the fool is killing the doubt

by wonder or letting it out?

Crossin’ your heart, hopin’ to die. Crossin’ your heart, wonder why, wonder why.

No having it all ways. No walking out free and clear. No having it all ways

No, no, no, no

No having it all ways. No walking out free and clear. No having it all ways

No, no, no, no

A curious cat will wind up dead, yet seek and ye shall find.

The higher you climb, the harder you fall, yet the limit is the sky.

Laugh and the world will laugh with you, yet misery loves a herd.

The pen has might beyond the sword, yet actions are louder than words.

No having it all ways.

No, no, no, no

Don’t beat a horse already dead, yet try and try again.

To thine own self be true, but yet in Rome, do like them.

What’s good for the goose is good for all, yet one’s meat is poison to some.

Some may connect with this little song while others are glad that its done.

BILL YOUNGBLOOD

Steve Felker

Love it!!!and the phoney grins!!!❤❤

Bobby

This is one of those songs where you just sit back and say to yourself “did we really just do that?” I guess we did. Pure magic. Poetry & Metal. We can pat ourselves on the back for about five seconds……and then get back to work! Hope everyone enjoys this one as much as we do. Enjoy the backstory; we did them just for you.
E PLURIBUS ULMUS

Jared Wabeke

Loved it. This album is going to be incredible.

Craig Hecht

Wow! just Wow! That riff needs a stack of Marshalls! Andy, the lyrics are genius as well! I always like the small touches you guys put in a track. The keyboard line, and i swear I heard a triangle in there somewhere or my tinnitus is acting up! Also, the harmonies on the chorus is some of the best I’ve heard you guys do. Great Track!!

Mark Caro

Ok! Hold it! Wha…! Who? How?!!
That one left me speechless with a lot to say!! COOL is one word and the way it moves! Pretty dang original!
I love the sound of the recording!
Man!! You guys are blessed with talent.
Keep going!!

Paul F. ILLIG

OMG! Mind Blown! Great Stuff! So, so, so looking forward to the full album! Great guitar licks and brilliant lyrics! Thank you thank you for this incredible musical journey!

Ruth Wirt

Perfect! Love the solos and the lyrics. In fact the combination is kind of brilliant.

Sonya

I think this one speaks to the “wanna be” poet in me. I love all the contradictions and the way they seamlessly roll into and over each other. The element of funk is still present, with a more upbeat, storytelling vibe on this one. First, I was captured by the mismatched, well oiled machine that is simply put, the story. Second, I had to come back, put the music to it, layer it up, for the full effect. Something sounds so simple, yet, has the component of many, many, man hours, of strategic writing. Simply put, it’s brilliant. Hats off to you, on day 2, boys. Loudest of love. ✌❤🤘

Nancy

Love the bit of snark in this one! 😉

Susan Jump

Killer song! 🐍

Tim Smyth

I like 3 things. First. The contrasting overlapping proverbs. Remember, you can lead a horse to water… But sometimes it drowns! Second. The Carlos Bobby Santana solo and third, of course, the ending!

Vincent Peteroy

Just incredible……you guys are magical !!

Shirley Mason

Love day two song

Odessa Rollins

Joshua Osborne

So many elements to this. Melodically and riff-wise I can hear an incredible blend of the Guess Who, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, and even some Rasputin feel. Wonderful!! Love it!

Karen Klucas

Absolutely brilliant. I very much loved all the sayings put like you did.

Alice Sullivan

I love the way you did the video. Colors are great. The song is awesome. Not what I was expecting wording but is really cool. Dig it man. It is way cool. Thank you for sending it. Wow! totally rad.

Yerby James

Simon Fillmore

Bobby going in depth was a really nice watch!

Don Driver

Thank you Elm Treason!! I’m very grateful for this opportunity. You’re work ethic as well as talent continue to amaze me! Excellent experience with song two, as well as the interviews behind the scenes.!! You guys really paired up some contradicting “wives tales”, and in pure Elm Treason fashion wove it into an incredible song!! All set to text on the screen in a way that a music video used to hook you in when they actually played videos on MTV!!
I can’t wait for what’s in store next!!

Andrew Punwasie

Amazing performance, Guys

Jake Lucas

Great lyrics and concept for a song. Humans are kinda hypocrites and contradictions.
Brilliant guitar yet again! Love it.

Bill Boys

Wow! Psychedelic! Lyrics are beyond awesome. Harmony is dead on. I think someone said something on one of your post that you seem to show a little Zombie’s influence. I don’t know the Zombies that well but there’s a late sixties early seventies vibe there that’s irresistible.

Shawn

Love it, thank for all the insights and that’s for sharing!

Andy

Your use of the old adages or sayings as lyrics and the way you work them in is pure genius, contrary to some of the pop music repetitiveness in lyrics today. This has the quality of the works by Bob Dylan or Simon and Garfunkel and has the sarcastic and cynical qualities of my favorite band of all time Steely Dan

colin harold

Un friggin believable song.. Its gets you boppin as usual with your stuff, and the lyrics are insanely amazing. Each analogy has an opposite to it that is the same.(I don’t know if I’m explaining that correct, but its utter fkn brilliance) When I really like something, I hang on to every note or word and this song does JUST that for me. Faaark Me! I Bloody love it.

Chris Stetson

Love day 2 song was awesome, the sit down with Bobby was so cool,Andy you sound great songs fantabulous

BILL YOUNGBLOOD

just freakin wow !

micheal

Interesting concept, great guitar work, very clean. Dont hear Bobbys electric yet, maybe of few more plays

Lindsay Irvine

Great track guys. A very trippy song. Reminded me of the late 60’s, early 70’s prog-rock English bands like Gong and Camel.
