Tool’s “Fear Inoculum” enters the Hot 100 at #93, becoming the longest song ever to hit that chart. Running 10:22, it outlasts David Bowie’s “Blackstar,” which clocks in at 9:57. “Fear Inoculum” drops off the chart the following week.

On the first UK gig of their 360 tour, U2 breaks the Wembley Stadium Attendance record when 88,000 show up. Their “claw” set design allows more fans to fit in the stadium and breaks Rod Stewart’s record of 83,000 set in 1995.

The venerable “Like A Rock” ad campaign comes to an end, as Chevy stops using the song and ends their association with Bob Seger. The 1986 song wasn’t written for Chevy, but was used in the ads since 1989. Two years later, John Mellencamp’s “Our Country” becomes the Silverado theme.

At a soggy Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington, England, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen gets a huge ovation when he takes the stage with the band. Twenty months earlier, Allen’s left arm was severed in a car accident, and after extensive rehab and some warm-up gigs, he makes a triumphant return at the festival, playing barefoot behind a drum kit modified with electronic pedals. Scorpions and Motörhead are also on the bill, which is headlined by Ozzy Osbourne.

Ruby Tuesday, The Rolling Stones ❤️
Who could ever hang a name on her?
Friday on my Mind by the Easybeats
GREAT GREAT guitar work. Reminds me of something Bobby Steel would do.
Also July Morning by Uriah Heep.
The FIRST mention of “July” in this week’s edition of “YOUR INPUT.” Leave it to you to go deep and keep it TASTY.
“Monday Monday” Mamas and the Papas
Can’t trust that day, Shelley.
Counting Crows: A Long December
Lynyrd Skynyrd: Saturday Night Special
Johnny Cash: Sunday Mornin’ Goin’ Down
Damn those are good ones, Bill! I usually take my time and think about it but this time I just went with what came to mind on thw spur of the momentplus the Elm boys picked 2 that I would have pickedLOL
Thanks, Shelley Stewart—Sunday Mornin’ Goin’ Down is a Chris Christopherson written song. He’s a great writer. Clever and conversational. I mean having one more beer for dessert, cmon’!
LOL. There’s something about the sound of A Long December. I like the emotional lyrics. I can’t resist singing the chorus out loud. There’s something about the sound of those words. How they fit the tune. And the line “The way that light attaches to a girl.” I’ve listened to it more than almost anthing. And Ronnie’s lyrics are so badass and dripping with the Blues on Saturday Night Special. “Two feets they come a creepin’, like a black cat do.”
I’d listen to an album of all these songs, so far, listed.
Couldn’t agree more, Bill. Some seriously delicious picks!
it’s sunday morning coming down.
Love the song, Daryl! Thanks!
All nice selections, but that Johnny Cash tune hits deep.. in a very good way.
I also like the Counting Crows choice very much.
It’s about time someone had the foresight and courage to post a pic of three onions.
It may be a bit arrogant – and perhaps it took a bit of conceit to go ahead with it – but SOMEONE had to do it.
There, I said it.
I understand, it’s an eye watering, layered approach and I think it has a peel.
????????????
Tuesday Afternoon by the Moody Blues.
Eight Days a Week by the Beatles
September Earth Wind & Fire.
Those are a few I really dig.
The Beatles tune covers the entire week… and then some. Mic drop.
Tuesday Afternoon Moody Blues
Love that song
Love the change of tempo in that song. REALLY dig the melody of the verses. Hayward has a terrific voice.
Saturday Night, Bay City Rollers, guilty pleasureLOL; Saturday’s alright for fighting, cover by Nickelback/Kidrock, groan if you must; Sunday Bloody Sunday, U2
No groans here, Shelley. As always, your input is both eclectic and amazing. Well done.
Friday I’m in Love, the Cure.
LoLoL but I’m not…
I (Andy) think that’s the first FRIDAY song mentioned in this week’s “YOUR INPUT.” GREAT pick. I need to play that one now.
Hi Fellas – Want the new t-shirt in Large Men’s with yellow & white text PLUS The Complete Treason CD Bundle but this is sold out. Is there a way around this to still get the 20% off when the Bundled CDs come back in stock? I’m in the UK so any savings help reduce the overall cost especially with delivery. Hope you can help. Phil ????????????
YES, PHIL! Because you’re a newsletter guy, I (Andy) will make sure you get the bundle with a discount. The part of the bundle that is missing is “FOR MERSEY’S SAKE,” the Beatles Cover EP. I am in the midst of making up new copies now. They should be ready in about ten days. If you’d like to order it now, along with the t-shirt, I can ship everything out the moment those discs come back from the printer. So, if you’d like to get everything now for later shipping, GREAT…. If you’d like to wait, I’ll get you a specific discount code when the time comes. If you’d like to wait, just PLEASE remind me after a week or ten days so I don’t forget. Whatever works for you.
I’m also happy to substitute FOR MERSEY’S SAKE with BARE TONES.
Your call.
Please email me directly at andy@elmtreason.com and let me know what you’d like to do. I personally handle all music shipments personally, so your wish is my command.

Hi Leo! My wife LOVES that Four Seasons tune. Both tunes work for me. Thanks, man!

Great muster of songs, Elle. I (Andy) love how some of them are “off the beaten path” a bit… Note how SUNDAY and MONDAY seem to be taking up the bulk of everyone’s offerings.
Hmmmm……

????????
Quintessential playlist right there, Alice. Thank you much for your selections. Dig ’em much.
Of course,Lady Madonna. Sunday’s on the phone to Monday, tuesday’s on the phone to me, oh yeah ????
Actually…. geeking out a bit here….The lyric you’re quoting is from “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.”
BUT…
Lady Madonna DOES tap into the days of the week…. “Tuesday afternoon is never ending. Wednesday morning papers didn’t come. Thursday night your stockings needed mending…”
Monday Morning – Fleetwood Mac
