First thought to “rock and roll”? The musician/singer: Chuck Berry, performing “Johnny B. Goode” and “Little Marie” ????
Chuck Berry IS rock and roll, so it makes perfect sense… Juke boxes, dropping nickels into the slot, dancing after school…. YEP!
It was mine too!
I think of the exuberance of the guys in Spinal Tap screaming, “Rock n Roll!!,” running into dead ends in hallways while trying to find the stage.
Which should remind us all…Rock’s too mysterious, don’t take it serious.
Exactly.
Exactly right.
LOL!!! Love it! And the maintenance guy trying to direct them to the stage! LOL.
HELLO CLEVELAND!!!!
I can’t help it. Bevis & Butthead forever!
Hey, PERFECT! I (Andy) watched EVERY EPISODE back in the day. It’s all about rock n roll, right?
Thank you, Laura!
My mind immediately goes to Blues, where the phrase was invented. Then to Alan Freed, After that, I think Rolling Stones because they are among the earliest bands interpreting the Blues, then I think of the big Southern Rockers like Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers, because they were closer to the Blues than even the Stones. At that point, it really opens up to all the other subgenres like Metal, Hard Rock, Psychedelic, Progressive, Folk Rock, Alternative, Indie, Punk, Glam, Roots Rock, etc (not even the tip of the iceberg) and I think “How lucky are we that we get to access this delicious melting pot of music whenever we want to.”
In conclusion (and I mean this sincerely) “Bom Bom Boom.”
Love your answer, Bill. Beautifully put. Rock and roll is a long, winding road with lots of satellite streets and ramps… It’s a journey. One beat leads to another. It’s a beautiful thing.
Yes, BOM BOM BOOM!
Just loving the grooves men. Righteous air guitar poses. Loving all the music, and Groovy Noodles. May peace be with you always my music friends.
Thank you so much, Alice. Let the POSITIVE keep flowing. Peace be with you as well. Thank you.
Led Zeppelin song Rock and Roll !
It’s been a long lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time!
Rock onward, Vinny!
My first thought is Elvis….Me as a youngster he was it…Would have loved seeing Heart with Ann Wilson singing Rock&Roll live that would have given me goosie bumps….
Elvis and Rock N Roll go together like daydreams and dandelions.
I (Andy) never had a chance to see HEART live. Would have loved to… just once.
Elvis Presley
Hi Lisa! Makes perfect sense. He’s not called the King of Rock and Roll for nothing.
Thank you.
Bob Seagar old fashion rock & roll, Tom Cruise in Risky Business
Today’s music ain’t got the same soul, he sang.
GREAT song, ALvin!
Happy
Lifestyle, wouldn’t live it any other way
Amen.
First thing, band gigs, mastering the art of lighting.
Nice. Thanks, Shirl!
The first thing for me unfortunately was switching to full auto on an M-16 in the U.S.Army. An utter waist of limited ammo, but it’s what you do when certain organic material hits the fan. The shock to your ears of the first round is all you hear, followed by the ring that drowned most sound out. And the drumming percussion from your chest up to your temples keeping perfect time to the flames scorching the tip of your barrel … and Yoko Ono
Wow. OUTSTANDING response… I have no commentary or response other than… Wow. Rock and roll, indeed.
K.I.S.S.
Perfect. Kinda says it all, brother.
My first thought is getting things done primary at work but in any activity really. Let’s “Rock and roll ” nobody says let’s “hip hop” when they want to get things done. But in music it any driving rhythm synced with an interesting riff and chord progression that transfers energy to the listener.
Hey Jerry!
Yep. I (Andy) actually use that term “Let’s rock and roll” for almost any task that is on my docket. It’s just part of my working lexicon.
I’m with you there.
